概要

LinuxカーネルのHIDコアで、割り当てられたレポートバッファが予約されたレポートIDを格納できるよう修正されました。レポートIDが使用されていない場合、下位レベルのトランスポートドライバーは最初のバイトがゼロであると想定します。しかし、現状ではバッファがその追加バイトを考慮していないため、必要な8バイトではなく7バイトしか確保されていませんでした。

想定される影響 当該ソフトウェアが扱う情報について、外部への漏えいは発生しません。 また、当該ソフトウェアが扱う情報について、書き換えは発生しません。 さらに、当該ソフトウェアが完全に停止する可能性があります。 そして、この脆弱性を悪用した攻撃の影響は、他のソフトウェアには及びません。

概要

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

HID: core: ensure the allocated report buffer can contain the reserved report ID

When the report ID is not used, the low level transport drivers expect
the first byte to be 0. However, currently the allocated buffer not
account for that extra byte, meaning that instead of having 8 guaranteed
bytes for implement to be working, we only have 7.
