概要

LinuxカーネルのPowerPC EEHドライバーにおいて、PCIeデバイスのホットプラグとEEHドライバー間で競合が発生し、カーネルが異常停止する複数のケースが存在していました。これには、デバイスの抜去や回復処理の途中でバスが消失する状況が含まれます。この問題に対応するため、EEHモジュールをPCIデバイスの再スキャンや削除時にも安全に動作するようにリファクタリングし、可読性向上のために細かな修正も行いました。

想定される影響 当該ソフトウェアが扱う情報について、外部への漏えいは発生しません。 また、当該ソフトウェアが扱う情報について、書き換えは発生しません。 さらに、当該ソフトウェアが完全に停止する可能性があります。 そして、この脆弱性を悪用した攻撃の影響は、他のソフトウェアには及びません。

概要

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

powerpc/eeh: Make EEH driver device hotplug safe

Multiple race conditions existed between the PCIe hotplug driver and the
EEH driver, leading to a variety of kernel oopses of the same general
nature:

<pcie device unplug>
<eeh driver trigger>
<hotplug removal trigger>
<pcie tree reconfiguration>
<eeh recovery next step>
<oops in EEH driver bus iteration loop>

A second class of oops is also seen when the underlying bus disappears
during device recovery.

Refactor the EEH module to be PCI rescan and remove safe. Also clean
up a few minor formatting / readability issues.
